Your ship stays yours.

ARKSHIP is provided by Nikita Vorontsov. You can play without an account. Your save stays on your device, and optional playtest measurement starts off.

Your game and preferences

We store your current voyage, decisions, genome archive and sound/guide preferences locally. The browser uses its local storage. The mobile app uses the operating system's app storage. These are needed to resume play and keep your chosen settings; they are not automatically uploaded to us.

There is no cloud-save service or automatic cross-device synchronisation. Clearing browser storage or uninstalling the app removes local data, subject to any backups managed separately by your operating system.

Website hosting

The browser game and these pages are hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security, whether or not you enable ARKSHIP playtest statistics or sign in to GitHub. This hosting processing is separate from optional game analytics. GitHub's privacy statement explains its handling of this information.

Optional browser measurement

If you enable playtest stats in the browser game, Plausible Analytics receives visits and bounded game events: voyage starts, committed jumps and route categories, mutations, inherited strains grown, and endings. We send a fixed page address and event name. We do not send your typed voyage code, save, feedback text or screen recording.

Ordinary requests include an IP address and browser information. Plausible uses these to derive broad location and device/browser statistics and a daily identifier for visitor counts. It says it does not store the raw IP or full user agent, rotates the daily salt every 24 hours and stores aggregate analytics in the EU. See Plausible's data policy.

Optional mobile measurement

Mobile test builds without a playtest-stats switch do not collect game analytics. Where the iOS or Android app offers that switch, game-event and app-usage measurement with Google Analytics for Firebase starts only when you enable it. It records game events and app/session usage, an app-instance identifier, device/app information and approximate location derived from the connection. This is installation-level measurement; it is not anonymous in the same way as a simple total counter.

We use it to understand whether people start voyages, where play stops and whether mutations and inherited strains are useful. ARKSHIP disables advertising identifier collection and sets advertising consent to denied. ARKSHIP does not send a name, email, typed voyage code, saved ship or genome bank to analytics. See Firebase's privacy information and Google's privacy policy.

For optional mobile analytics, we have set user-level and event-level data retention to two months, with reset on new user activity switched off. Google applies retention changes after 24 hours and deletes expired data during a monthly process. These settings do not affect standard aggregated reports, which may remain available beyond two months. See Google's data-retention guidance.

iOS installation service

The iOS app also initializes Firebase Installations when it starts. This service can send Google an installation identifier and technical app and SDK information before you enable playtest statistics. Firebase uses the identifier to operate its installation service and collects device, operating-system and SDK information to understand SDK adoption. This service activity is separate from optional gameplay measurement and is not disabled by the statistics switch. The two-month Analytics retention setting does not govern these installation-service records. See Firebase's privacy information and Firebase Installations lifecycle guidance.

Your choice

Optional measurement is off until you enable it. You can turn it off in the game's feedback panel at any time. The game continues to work if you decline or block analytics. Turning it off stops future game-event and app-usage measurement; it does not automatically remove previously recorded aggregate reports.

Reports and support

A shared voyage link contains its code and version, not your save. A voyage report contains the current ship, decisions, archive, version and bounded device/browser details. You choose whether and where to share that report using your browser or device's sharing tools. It is not sent as analytics.

If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for support.

Free Android codes are now shared publicly on the tester page; you do not need to email us to choose one. Redemption happens on Google Play. ARKSHIP does not collect your Google account details through these links or track which code you click.

For earlier code requests made by email, we received an email address, country, and confirmation of tester-group membership and Play opt-in. We retain a limited request and delivery record to fulfil those requests, avoid duplicate allocation and resolve follow-up. We delete request details and allocation records when they are no longer needed after the promotion and related follow-up, unless a legal obligation or dispute requires retention.

We use OpenAI’s Codex assistant to help handle ARKSHIP support messages and code requests, including sending requested replies. OpenAI may receive the email address, country, eligibility confirmation and message content supplied in your request, together with reply text. See OpenAI’s privacy policy for its handling of this information. This does not give the assistant access to your Google account or game save.

We use support messages and attachments for our legitimate interests in answering requests and fixing problems. We retain them while needed to resolve the request and related follow-up, then delete information no longer needed, unless a legal obligation or dispute requires retention. Optional analytics operates with your consent, which you can withdraw in the game.

Android tester group

If you voluntarily join the Android tester Google Group, you need a Google account. The group organiser can see your membership and email address. We use that information to make your Google account eligible for the test and to send relevant test updates, not advertising. You can leave the group to stop future group updates. Google handles your account and group data under Google's privacy policy.

Stores and service providers

Apple and Google handle mobile purchases, downloads and their own store services under their respective privacy terms. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. Analytics providers process information for the functions described above; ARKSHIP does not sell your personal information.

We use Google's Gmail service for support email. Google may process messages and attachments on servers outside the UK and your country. Its privacy policy describes this processing, and its data-transfer information explains the applicable adequacy frameworks and contractual safeguards.

Request deletion of your data

To request deletion of ARKSHIP support data, email chargen.official@gmail.com with the subject “ARKSHIP data deletion”. Use the email address you contacted us from and identify the message or voyage report you want deleted. Do not send passwords or a new save file.

We can delete the support messages, sender details and report attachments we hold, unless a legal obligation or dispute requires us to keep them. We will explain any information we must retain and the applicable retention period when responding to your request. Local game saves are removed by clearing browser storage or uninstalling the app, subject to separate operating-system backups.

Turning statistics off stops future game analytics collection; it is not a deletion request for previously uploaded analytics. We cannot identify an installation's analytics record from your support email. The mobile analytics retention settings above still apply, and aggregated reports may remain. GitHub handles its hosting logs under its own privacy policy.

You can also contact us with a privacy question. Depending on the applicable law and processing, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy or withdraw consent.

You have the right to object to our use of your personal information based on legitimate interests.

You may complain to your local data-protection authority. In the UK, you can make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

We will update this notice when the game's data handling changes. The date above identifies the current version.
